About the Author
I distinctly remember the night I wanted to be an author.
I was 12 years old, reading a book by my lamp that I put on my floor without its shade on it, and a big, Texas thunderstorm was raging outside my window. The book I was reading was The Claidi Collection by Tanith Lee (to this day, I still don’t know how to pronounce the main character’s name). At some point while reading, I looked up and proclaimed, “I could write something like this,” and that’s what I did. Literally. I wrote a nearly identical copy of Lee’s book. I still have portions of it, and trust me, it’s bad. I didn’t care because I was enjoying the process so much. Fast forward a few years, and I was in my peak Twilight phase. I know, cringe if you must, but they inspired me, so I wrote. It was called Midnight Miracle. This book was also an exact copy of Twilight with the character names switched around, but I no longer have it, because my parents’ computer crashed, and I lost everything. I was devastated. However, it forced me to go back through the scraps of paper I still had of my beloved story, and I realized that none of the words were my own. Thus, started the journey of writing my own works, finding my own voice, and figuring out what I wanted my stories to say.
Now, I’m here. One novel sent off to agents, one in desperate need of editing, and a few that are just scraps of potential.
I suppose I’m like my novels that way: in need of some editing, but full of such beautiful potential.
